“Love Nots!” is a novel about Miranda and the difficulties she has to deal with in her life as a model, while she is trying to form her own personality or even more become fortunate. The author perfectly describes the particular situation and feelings of the character, who is much more profound than everyone would expect because of the prejudices the model business comes along with. Amber Guidara impresses in every aspect, the story is profound, funny and exciting at the same time, so that the reader always wants to read on and know what comes next in Miranda’s life and how she will manage it. She generally succeeds in pointing out the contrast between the superficial model business and the true feelings and longings of the persons which are behind it. In addition to that, Guidara always finds the right words for a theme, which could easily become trashy, but it never does. Furthermore, instead of a boring happy ending, Guidara chose to leave lots of space for own thoughts and with it a perfect basement to be continued…

The author takes us on a series of experiences through the delusional world of the modeling industry, and society’s twisted view of beauty. The thought process of Miranda is an orgy of emotion, filled with head-spinning thoughts that doesn’t logically make sense, nor is it supposed to. But it gives us a front seat view of the emotional roller coaster that goes through the mind of the modern woman. I was so naive to think that the relationships Miranda had was her quest to find the love of the man that was to make her whole. Instead, all this time she was trying to find her inner self, to be the person she was destined to be. I enjoyed this book, I think the author speaks directly about the female mind. As they say in travel and love, its never the destination, its always the journey.

“Refreshing.”

Refreshing. As an actress I read a lot of scripts and I’m familiar with a variety of characters. I read Love Nots! as a junkfood escape while I was on set recently, or so I had thought. I quickly discovered that I had begun reading a story about a world I have been familiar with (modeling) that wasn’t being glamorized or justified by the main character. Miranda just gets it and misses it all at the same time. I just loved that! Guidara nailed the dichotomy between fear and love, reminding me (in an entertaining way) to keep holding onto my own courage and fight for what and who I love… we all should.
